Gov. Steve Beshear signed HB 383 into law. The new law includes a measure that requires high school coaches to complete a sports safety course on how to prevent common injuries.

“This is an important piece of legislation that I hope will protect the health and safety of our student athletes,” Beshear said. “I applaud the sponsors for their efforts to protect our students from the dangers of heatstroke, illness and injuries incurred while participating in sporting events through the bill’s requirements for proper training and equipment.”

To be eligible for crisis funds you must be in a heating crisis. You must have a past due/disconnect notice from the electric or natural gas company, or be out of bulk fuel within four days if using propane, fuel oil or kerosene, or wood, or a formal eviction notice from your landlord if heating expenses are included in the rent.

 “It’s ridiculous; highway robbery,” said Sue Ann Twyman as she bought a pack of cigarettes at Smoketown II on Lincoln Boulevard across from LaRue County High School. 

Clyde Viers, another local cigarette customer at the business, agreed.
