  • LaRue Water District receives permission to refinance bonds

     The LaRue County Water District No. 1 has applied to the Public Service Commission for authorization to enter into an assistance agreement with Kentucky Rural Water Finance Corporation to borrow about $2.83 million to refund certain outstanding waterworks revenue bonds.

    The Water District made application to the Commission on Aug. 29. On Sept. 17, the Commission accepted the application for filing.

    The loan will have a 28-year term with interest rates that vary from 3.25 percent to 4.4 percent per annum.

  • Soccer teams fall in district final

     The Marion County Knights held prolific scorer Alex Cook and the LaRue County Hawks in check Thursday night as they won the championship of the Boys’ 18th District Soccer Tournament, 3-1 in Lebanon.

    Cook, a senior striker, scored twice in the teams’ regular-season meeting and had the Hawks’ goal Thursday night, but the Knights had built a 3-0 lead before he found the back of the net with 4 minutes left in the first half. Senior Marshall Metcalf had the assist.

     South Central RTC’s Annual Meeting was held at the Cave City Convention Center Oct. 4.

  • Two local students perform with Campbellsville University Chorale

      The Campbellsville University Chorale will be touring to several churches and schools in the area over fall break, Oct. 17-21.

    Performances begin 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Glasgow Baptist Church in Glasgow.

    They will have two performances in Grayson County on Thursday, Oct. 18: the first at 1 p.m. at Grayson County Middle School in Leitchfield and the second at 6 p.m. at Clarkson Baptist Church in Clarkson.

  • SOCCER: Lady Hawks make history - to play in region tourney

     GIRLS’ 18TH DISTRICT SEMIFINAL: LARUE COUNTY 2, HART COUNTY 1. Junior forward Abby Modrowski scored twice – including the game-winner with 23 minutes left – as the Lady Hawks qualified for the Girls’ 5th Region Soccer Tournament for the first time in school history.

    Junior defender Peyton Gardner had an assist for second-seeded LaRue County (6-7-2), which will face top-seeded and tournament host Marion County at 6 tonight in the championship.
