  • Rick Price to perform in concert to benefit CASA

     A concert to benefit abused and neglected children in Kentucky will be held 7:30 p.m. May 12.

    Rick Price, Australian singer and songwriter, will perform at Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center, 384 W.A. Jenkins Road, Elizabethtown. Price’s album, “Heaven Knows” produced several top-40 hits including “Not a Day Goes By” and the title track.

    Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) of the Heartland is sponsoring the event.

  • ECTC offers free spring concert

     Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Fine Arts Committee will present the spring concert of the ECTC Concert Band and the ECTC Choristers 7 p.m. April 24 in the Morrison Gallery in the Owen (Administration) Building of the college. The concert is free and the public is invited.

  • Sports correspondent needed

     The LaRue County Herald News, a 4,600 circulation weekly newspaper, is looking for a correspondent to cover LaRue County High School sports.

    Good communication with coaches, players and newspaper staff is a must. The ideal candidate would have their own photography equipment and be able to provide photos with their stories. However, it is not a requirement.

    Payment will be on a per-story/per-photo basis.

    Some travel outside LaRue County may be required during tournament season.

  • COLUMN: Love God, love your brother

     Paul tells the Corinthians to “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves” (II Corinthians 13:5). The Bible is very specific in describing what is required to be “in the faith.”

    John says that if we really love God there will be four results of this love and it will show if we are in the faith.

    This large snapping turtle was spotted strolling down the sidewalk in Hodgenville last week. He had apparently been ousted from a hiding place by someone mowing a yard as he was covered with grass clippings. He wasn't pleased.

  • COLUMN: Diabetes will catch up with you

    Are you at risk for diabetes? Everyone should be aware of the risk factors for type 2 diabetes. People who are overweight, under active (living a sedentary lifestyle) and over the age of 45 should consider themselves at risk for the disease. African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and people who have a family history of the disease also are at an increased risk for type 2 diabetes.

  • ECTC to present 'Toy Box Theatre'

    Elizabethtown Community and Technical College's Toy Box Theatre will present a children's play, Tales of the Mice, 7 p.m. April 26 in the Science Auditorium on ECTC's campus. Admission is $2.
