  • Srygler named to Dean's List at Clear Creek

     Adam D. Srygler of Hodgenville has been named to the Dean’s List at Clear Creek Baptist College, Pineville.

    Inclusion to the Dean’s List means he has achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher for the fall semester.

    Srygler is the spouse of Janice Weston Srygler and the son of John Srygler of Hodgenville and the late Lesa Srygler.

  • Herrin nominated for journalism conference

     Kaelyn Herrin, a student at LaRue County High School, has been nominated to represent Kentucky as a National Youth Correspondent to the 2013 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University.

  • Walsh turns 100

     Lura Walsh celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 28, 2013, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. Some of her family members surprised her on Jan. 27 with balloons, flowers and cake.

  • Veterans Salute: James McDowell

     James McDowell served in the U.S. Army at Fort Amador at the Panama Canal during World War II. He served 1942-1945. 

    McDowell died at age 66 in 1988. He is the brother of Bobby McDowell and father of Donald McDowell.

  • Mat Hawks prepare for Region tournament

     Since 1998, the LaRue County Mat Hawks have won 12 regional championships.

    Head coach Gary Canter, who is facing his final regional tournament, said the championship is up for grabs between several teams.

    “Central Hardin, John Hardin, North Hardin and us are all about even when you look at tournament teams,” said Canter. “Any one of these teams could win the regional tournament. I am very sure you can’t say any one team is favored.”

    When you work, your employer will give you a pay stub when you get paid, even if you use direct deposit. Understanding the information on the pay stub is vital to managing your money and budgeting, according to the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority.

    Each company’s pay stub is different, but all employers must include these items:

    · Gross Pay: This is what you earned that pay period before any taxes or benefits, such as insurance, were withheld.
