  • SOCCER: Lady Hawks prepare for district

     18TH DISTRICT GIRLS' SOCCER TOURNAMENT AT MARION COUNTY. LaRue County is a victory away Wednesday night from the first region tournament berth in the program’s six-year existence.

    The second-seeded Lady Hawks (5-7-2, 2-1-1) meet the third-seeded Hart County Lady Raiders (7-4, 1-2) in the late semifinal at 8. LaRue County beat the Lady Raiders, 6-2 on Aug. 27 in Munfordville. Junior Shelbi Brooks and sophomore Rachel Wolf each had three goals and one assist for the Lady Hawks.

  • SOCCER: Hawks enter district tournament

     18TH DISTRICT BOYS' SOCCER TOURNAMENT AT MARION COUNTY. The fourth-seeded Taylor County Cardinals (4-16, 3-3) meet the fifth-seeded Hart County Raiders (1-10-1, 1-5) in tonight’s quarterfinal at 6. Taylor County beat the visiting Raiders on Aug. 23, 1-0 as sophomore Jordan Nicholas scored off a pass from senior Justin Smith.

  • VOLLEYBALL: Lady Hawks begin district play tonight

     18TH DISTRICT VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT AT CAVERNA. Green County is going for its 10th straight title as the tournament semifinals open tonight.

    The top-seeded Lady Dragons face fourth-seeded Caverna (0-6) at 6, while second-seeded LaRue County (4-2) – which has reached the final six straight years – takes on third-seeded Hart County (2-4) at 7:30. The final is at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

    LaRue County swept Hart County in both regular-season meetings, winning 25-13, 25-6, 25-4 on Aug. 24 and 25-9, 25-18, 25-15 on Sept. 18.

  • Shelly Meredith earns White Coat

     A LaRue County resident is one of the members of the third class of Lindsey Wilson College students officially accepted into the college’s baccalaureate nursing program.

    Since scoring 47 points in their season-opening win over the Adair
    County, the LaRue County Hawks have been in an offensive slumber.

    Entering Friday night, LaRue County had scored just 57 points in its
    next five games and gone 1-4 in that stretch.

  • ANNIVERSARY: Cundiffs celebrate 58 years

     Mattie and Joe Cundiff of Taylorsville and formerly of Hodgenville celebrated their 58th anniversary on Oct. 1, 2012.

    She is the former Mattie Mae Stearman.
