Eighth-grader Jackson Venegas and seventh-grader Ramisha Jakes were LaRue County’s top performers in the middle school state track championships.
Venegas’ throw of 118 feet, 2 inches in the discus competition was good for third place in the boys’ competition.
Jakes tied for fifth place in the girls’ high jump in the May 9 meet at Paul Dunbar High School in Lexington. Her winning distance for 4 feet, 4 inches.
Their performances accounted for all of the team’s points, which were awarded based on top finishes in the events.
