  • 4-H calendar

    Enrollment open for 4-H

    It is time for current 4-H members to re-enroll and new members to join. 4-H is open to LaRue County youth ages 9 to 18. as of Jan. 1. Youth ages 5 to 8 may join 4-H as a Cloverbud. Various project clubs are available to join, or a child may join as a member at large. The 4th and 5th graders at HES and ALES will have a 4-H club meeting at school once a month. 4-H enrollment forms are available from the Extension Service office or http://ces.ca.uky.edu/larue/enrollment.

  • Serger classes planned for fall

    Do you have a serger machine at home, but don’t really know how to use it? Do you like sewing but want to find out how to use a serger before purchasing one? These upcoming classes will help you.

    Master Clothing Volunteer, Rosa Smith, is offering three classes at the Extension Service office on using a serger. The office is located at 807 Old Elizabethtown Road across from Magnolia Bank. Sept. 13 will be Serger 101; Oct. 4 will be Serger 102; and Nov. 15 will be Serger 103. All classes are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Tedder sentenced to seven years for meth

    Mickey S. Tedder, 57, of Buffalo, was sentenced on Sept. 7 to seven years imprisonment in United States District Court, Louisville, for possessing and distributing methamphetamine powder on four separate occasions in Hardin and LaRue Counties.

    Joseph H. McKinley Jr., Judge, U.S. District Court, also sentenced Tedder to four years supervised release following imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

  • Change in law makes firearms permissible at National Park

    A change in federal law that became effective Feb. 22 allows people to possess firearms in Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park.

    The law applies to residents who can “legally possess firearms under federal, Kentucky, and local law,” according to a National Park Service release. Possession of firearms in national parks also subject to the firearms laws of the state and communities where the parks are located.
