  • Three indicted in burglary case

     Three men charged in connection with a July burglary in Glendale are making their way through Hardin Circuit Court.

    John J. Stamper, 22, of Elizabethtown, David H. Spalding, 18, and Kassidy L. Spencer, 19, both of Hodgenville, were indicted last month on charges of complicity to commit first-degree burglary.

    Stamper also faces two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and second-degree persistent felony offense.

  • Man critical after wreck

     A Hodgenville man is in critical condition following a single vehicle crash early Friday.

    Edward Renfrow, 22, was driving a 1997 Honda Accura just after midnight in the 900 block of Howardstown Road when he lost control of the vehicle. The Honda ran off the edge of the roadway and rolled several times.

    Renfrow was ejected from the vehicle, according to LaRue County Deputy Robby Brownfield.

    He was transported to University Hospital in Louisville by LaRue County EMS.

  • COLUMN: Don't text and drive

     Most of us have experienced distractions of one sort or another while driving, but did you know the consequences you might face if your distractions cause an accident?

    In Kentucky, all drivers are now prohibited by law from texting while driving. The law was signed in 2010.

  • COLUMN: 'I want to live!'

     A man was asked, “When you are in your casket, family and friends are mourning over you, what would you like for them to say about you?” His reply: “Look, he’s moving.”

    This man wanted to live and that is the desire of almost everyone. Why? There are a variety of reasons but I believe God placed the desire to live within every one of us. Without that desire, we would try to end it all when situations become extremely tough.

  • Absentee ballots available through Nov. 6

     The General Election is Nov 6.

    Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and any voter who is in line to vote by 6 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot.

    Voters can avoid surprises on Election Day by checking their polling place and viewing sample ballots through the Voter Information Center https://cdcbp.ky.gov/VICWeb/index.jsp.

  • COLUMN: 5 is a perfect score for beef cows

     Late fall and early winter is an optimum time to prepare spring calving cows for reproductive success. Adequate nutrition from about 50 to 80 days prior to calving is critical to maximizing a cow’s ability to rebreed. If a cow gets inadequate nutrition or is thin at calving and breeding, she will take longer to come into heat.
