  • PHOTO: Poinsettia winner at library

     Nancy Elliott was last week's winner of a Christmas Poinsettia at the LaRue County Public Library. Just read a book, come by the library and complete a ticket and drop it in the box for a chance to win. A drawing will be held 1 p.m. each Friday during December.

  • Brittany Benningfield sings at UK game

     Brittany Benningfield sang the national anthem during opening ceremonies of the UK-Lipscomb men’s basketball game in Lexington Dec. 15.

    Benningfield, a 2003 LaRue County High School graduate, holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Campbellsville University, master’s degree in vocal performance from the University of Kentucky and is a Doctor of Musical Arts’ Vocal Performance candidate at UK. 

  • TSC supports 4-H programs

     The Kentucky 4-H Foundation is distributing more than $14,000 to 45 County 4-H Councils as part of the Tractor Supply Company Paper Clover Campaign. The TSC Paper Clover Campaign is a nationwide, in-store fundraiser that benefits 4-H programming at the local, state, and national levels.

  • Learn to sell on eBay

     Learning to sell on eBay can be profitable and fun. Whether selling handmade Kentucky crafts, antiques, collectibles and more, eBay is one of several electronic marketplaces to sell your stuff.

    Participants will learn to list items, calculate shipping charges, learn about eBay fees and more in a four-hour class offered at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. The class will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 12. Cost is $49. To enroll or for more information, call 706-8702.

  • Knowledge Master Academic Team wins competition

     LaRue County Middle School’s Knowledge Master Academic Team coached by Doris Jean Holleran won first place in the competition for the 2012-2013 season. They beat teams from T.K. Stone, St. James School and Edmonson County to win the title. 

    Knowledge Masters is an academic competition for area middle schools that is sponsored by Hardin County Schools and televised on HCEC-TV.

    Winning team members from LCMS are Briar Holt, Hannah Keith, Skyler Hornback and Harrison Hynes. 

  • BIRTH: Durretts welcome Edison Stephen

     Blake and Whitney Durrett are proud to announce the birth of a son, Edison Stephen Durrett.

    Edison Stephen was born at 6:32 a.m. on Nov. 7, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are George and Sandy Pickerell, and Steve and Stella Durrett and the late Tammy Durrett.

    Great-grandparents are Edwin and Mildred Pickerell and Cliff and Shirley French and the late Harold Larimore.
