Unemployment rates rose in all 120 Kentucky counties between April 2008 and April 2009,  between May 2008 and May 2009, and again between June 2008 and June 2009, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

LaRue County’s rate in April 2008 was 5.2 percent. A year later, it was 11.5 percent. In May 2009, the rate was 12 percent, up from 5.9 percent in May 2008.

A Buffalo woman has been charged with first-degree assault after allegedly shooting her husband Saturday morning.

Tracy Lynn Dotson, 32, and her husband Anthony Dale Dotson, 44, were involved in a “domestic dispute” at their home at 1429 Brooks Road, according to investigating officer Chief Deputy Marcus Jackson.

Anthony Dale Dotson allegedly “began breaking items” and his wife told him “she didn’t want to fight, that he should leave,” Jackson said.

“She said he came at her and she shot him,” Jackson said.

A group representing LaRue County will be on hand Thursday when the U.S Mint unveils the third in a series of four 2009 Abraham Lincoln bicentennial pennies.

The coin depicting Lincoln's professional life in Illinois will be unveiled Thursday at the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Ill. Community leaders and tourism representatives left Hodgenville on Wednesday to be on hand for the ceremony.

The second coin, representing Lincoln’s years in Indiana, was rolled out May 15. It was preceded by the Feb. 12 presentation of the cabin penny in Hodgenville.
