Sunny skies and a ton of food greeted those attending the groundbreaking ceremony Friday for Fort Knox Federal Credit Union’s Hodgenville location.

Several credit union employees and board members introduced themselves to LaRue County residents at the short program and reception.

J. Marvin Hawk, chairman of the board of directors, called the event a “new and wonderful chapter” for the credit union.

Go back in time by almost 150 years this weekend at Old Bardstown Village with the second annual Battle for Old Bardstown Village. Unemployment rates rose in all 120 Kentucky counties between April 2008 and April 2009,  between May 2008 and May 2009, and again between June 2008 and June 2009, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

LaRue County’s rate in April 2008 was 5.2 percent. A year later, it was 11.5 percent. In May 2009, the rate was 12 percent, up from 5.9 percent in May 2008.
