The LaRue County School Board voted Monday to suspend Superintendent Sam Sanders for 30 days without pay.
Sanders, who has led the school district since 2002, was charged March 29 with driving while under the influence of alcohol and speeding. Police said he was driving a vehicle owned by the school district at the time of his arrest.
Sanders pleaded not guilty to the charges last week in LaRue District Court. He lost his driving privileges after the judge learned he had refused a Breathalyzer test. His next court appearance is May 13.
