 A large barn that has stood on Keith Road for several decades will be razed to make way for a new home.

 Chris Jackson, LaRue County emergency management/911 coordinator, told magistrates meeting at the courthouse in Hodgenville Jan. 22 that 12 new VHF-band radios have been installed in county road department vehicles, greatly enhancing communication over the airways.

“Before we installed these, we leased our frequency on a trunk line, which can be compared to the old party lines that telephone service used to have,” Jackson said. “Other users on the same frequency as us would interfere with our transmissions.”

 Hodgenville City Clerk MaDonna Hornback was elected vice-president of the Lincoln Trail Area District of the Kentucky Municipal Clerk’s Association.

Hornback has served as the City of Hodgenville City clerk-treasurer since July, 2007. She received her Kentucky Certified Municipal Clerk certification in July, 2010, and is also a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. 

 After enjoying relatively mild winter weather through most of December, LaRue County’s road department crews spread their first loads of salt, about 15 tons, Dec. 29, according to road supervisor Clyde Veirs.
