  • FISCAL COURT: County orders 196 tons of salt

LaRue County ambulance runs are up 129 transits since last year and almost 500 more than two years ago, Mike Cottrell, emergency medical services director, told magistrates meeting at the courthouse in Hodgenville Jan. 28.

The local service showed 193 runs in December, bringing 2014’s total to 1,963 compared to 1,834 in 2012 and 1,453 in 2011.

“Our service has been working very closely with Sunrise Manor and other medical providers in the county, which accounts in part for the increase,” said Tommy Turner, LaRue County judge-executive.

  • KSP acquires jet

The Kentucky State Police has expanded its aircraft fleet at no upfront cost to the Commonwealth by acquiring a former U.S. Air Force jet through a military surplus program. The 1984 Learjet 35 is now the newest aircraft owned by KSP.  The plane has been valued at $1 million.

Justice and Public Safety Secretary J. Michael Brown said the state will incur some costs to convert the plane from military to commercial use, including navigation and radio systems, inspections and pilot training.
