Hodgenville City Council is considering a measure that will increase the cost of water and sewer service.

At Monday’s public hearing, the Council held first reading of an ordinance that will raise sewer rates by 10 percent and minimum water rate by 7.5 percent in 2012. Annual increases through 2015 are being considered.

Combined minimum water and sewer rates will be $8.94 higher by 2015 than current rates.

Election Day 2011 is history though the official certification of results by the Kentucky State Board of Elections is scheduled for Nov. 28. While most Kentuckians are moving into the advent of the holiday season and a new year, the election season rarely has a breather.  
Candidates who intend to run on the 2012 primary or general ballot have begun filing their paperwork with Secretary of State Elaine Walker’s office in Frankfort. Qualified candidates will appear on the May 22 primary or the Nov. 6 general election ballot.

A Hodgenville couple received a green light Monday from Hodgen­ville City Council to begin building a house on Fairview Drive.
That sounds simple enough – but to Bobby and Bonnie Wright, it has proven to be one aggravation after another.
The Wrights planned to give a granddaughter an acre of land to build a home. In September, they contacted Land of Lincoln Planning and Zoning to have the property zoned from agriculture to residential.
