    The LaRue County Board of Education reviewed several personnel changes at their April meeting.

    Employment of

    Bobby Keith Martin as School Bus Driver for LCS.

    Stephanie Utley as Child Nutrition Coordinator for LCS.

    James Kinslow as School Bus Driver LCS.

    Nancy Lane as Reading Recovery Teacher Leader for LCS, pending approval by the University of Kentucky Reading Recovery Project.

    LaRue County Schools make up days

    School will be in session as a snow make up day on May 5.

    ALES Spring Carnival

    The ALES Spring Carnival will be held Friday, April 21.  There will be Charlie’s Pizza, Games, a Live Auction, and lots of fun!  Food will begin at 5 p.m. with games from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with the auction to begin at 6:30 p.m.

  • BookWalk at CreekFront Park

    Hodgenville’s Creekfront Park has become a favorite place for people to play, walk, and relax. From 1-3 p.m. this Saturday, they’ll also be able to enjoy reading and fitness activities as the Livin’ Well LaRue County Coalition premieres BookWalk.

    “BookWalk is a fun way to reinforce the importance of early childhood literacy,” noted Diana Leathers, community health educator with the LaRue County Health Center.

    4-H Speech and Demonstration Contest

    The 4-H Speech and Demonstration Contest will be held on Tuesday, April 18 beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the LaRue County Extension Office.  Participants need to call 270-358-3401 to register for a time.

    4-H Poultry Club

    The 4-H Poultry Club will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 at the LaRue County Extension Office.

    4-H Cloverbuds

  • 4-H Teen Club

    Members of the Teen Club have began working on a new service project.

    The teens used templates to cut patterns from old denim.  The material will be sent to an organization that will make shoes for Ugandan children.  The program also puts men and women in Uganda to work to earn income for their families.

    KHIC Wee Time

    Preschool children ages 2-4 and their parents are invited to Wee Time, where preschool children can become familiar with the school they will attend. The event is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on April 19 at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. The color for the event is green.
