  • LaRue County students named to WKU fall 2017 honors list

    The following Western Kentucky University students from the LaRue County area were named to the Dean’s and President’s lists for the fall 2017 semester.

    Full-time undergraduate students with a semester grade-point average of 3.4 to 3.79 are named to the Dean’s List. Students with a GPA of 3.8 to 4.0 are named to the President’s List. Their names are marked with an asterisk.

  • Bringing LCHS into Minecraft

    While reviewing the digital product online judging section of the Student Technology Leadership Program website last fall, members of LaRue County High School’s STLP club came across a competitive project that they couldn’t turn down.

    The challenge was to create a guided tour of their community including points of interest and community history in Minecraft, a video game that enables the player to create worlds through multiple different tools and materials.

  • Make a difference for our county’s youth

    Kentucky 4-H is one of the most important and influential youth programs in our state and our county. Across Kentucky over 290,000 youth ages 9 to 19 learn about leadership, citizenship and life skills in “learn-by-doing” experiences such as communications and public speaking, through agriculture projects like livestock judging, science projects with robotics, 4-H camp, Teen Conference, and many other 4-H programs and activities.

  • Speech Teams Place 3rd in Region

    The LaRue County Speech Team competed in the Regional Tournament last weekend to earn spots to compete at the Kentucky High School Speech League State Championships in March.

    The region includes teams from LaRue, Hardin, Nelson, Jefferson, Oldham, Bullitt, and Washington Counties. The LCHS and LCMS speech teams both took 3rd with 14 teams competing on the high school level and 7 teams on the middle school level. Every LCHS and LCMS student who competed earned a spot at the state tournament this year in at least one event, and some are advancing in two or three.
