    LaRue County High School junior Lindsey Shelton and seventeen other local high school juniors traveled to Frankfort on April 27, as part of their participation in the annual Nolin RECC Washington Youth Tour contest activities.

    LaRue County High School students Marissa Kappel and Symone Whalin want to change the status quo of women-to-men ratio in technology jobs.

    Whalin, a junior, and sophomore Kappel are two of only five females who, over the past 10 years at LCHS, have been involved in the Help Desk where they and their male classmates service the school’s computers.

    CKCA to Offer Educational Awards

    Central Kentucky Community Action will again offer educational awards for graduating high school seniors and GED recipients in LaRue County. The awards will be given in the form of scholarships to assist with tuition while attending a four year college, a two year college or a technical school. Certain guidelines must be met, and scholarship packets are available at the high school, and the local Community Action office. For more information call 270-358-3937.

  • FFA fighting hunger

    LaRue County High School agriculture teacher Chris Thomas and his greenhouse students are adding something special to their plant offerings this spring.

    The LaRue County FFA chapter has been awarded a $2500 grant as part of the FFA: Food for All program. The nationwide program provides grant money to local FFA chapters to support year-long service-learning projects that address local hunger needs.

    Thomas said the local project is called “FFA Buckets of Hope.”

    May 6 is an instructional day and early release day; May 13 is a full day with no early release, May 17 is a work day with teachers reporting and students not in school; May 25 is the last day for students and May 26 is closing day.
