  • LaRue County Choir reaching new vocal heights

    With a love for all things musical, one young woman has been leading LaRue County students to new vocal heights sharing her engaging passion for music.

    Amber Tucker has been teaching choir at LaRue County High School and Middle School for four years. Days after graduating from Western Kentucky University, Tucker saw a job opening for choir director at LaRue County Schools and applied.

    “With in a 72 hour span I had applied for the job and had an interview. I was super fortunate because it was only a week after I had graduated,” Tucker said.

  • 4-H Calendar

    Candy Sale

    The annual 4-H Candy Sale Fundraiser is in progress.  4-H members may choose to sell candy bars to earn prizes.  Each case contains a variety of 30 bars to be sold at $2 each.  4-Hers may pick up a box to sell at the Extension Office.  All money or unsold candy must be returned to the Extension Office by Friday, December 16.

     4-H Poultry Club

    The 4-H Poultry Club will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16 at the LaRue County Extension Office.

  • Contest takes it to the (piggy) bank

    It’s time for Kentucky’s young people to exercise their financial creativity by entering the Piggy Bank Design Contest.

    The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment and its Managing in Tough Times Initiative host the contest every fall in anticipation of Kentucky Saves Week, a time in February dedicated to encouraging individuals to start or increase their personal savings.

    Each of LaRue County’s public schools has selected its recipient for the 2017 ExCEL Teacher of the Year Award.

    Those named and their schools include Penny Akers, Abraham Lincoln Elementary; Laura Evans, Hodgenville Elementary; Bryan Hurst, LaRue County Middle; and Houston Cruse, LaRue County High.
