  • School board receives communications update

    The LaRue County School Board received a communications update from Heartland Communications at their monthly meeting on Monday, March 2.

    Consultants from Heartland Communications presented a communications update packet to the board. The board had previously requested Heartland Communications to provide a report of their progress.

  • Hornback is going places

    LaRue County High School sophomore Skyler Hornback is going places.

    In July, he will become the first LCHS student to attend the YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs (CONA) for two consecutive summers.

    In addition, he recently received an acceptance letter from the Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky at Western Kentucky University. He’ll begin classes at the residential high school in August.

  • Lincoln Days scholarship available

    Lincoln Days is pleased to announce that a $500 scholarship will be awarded again this year.

    Applications are available online at http://www.lincolndays.org/scholarship.

    Any LaRue County resident planning to further their education at an accredited institution is encouraged to apply.

  • LCS recognized for meeting goal

    LaRue County Schools is among 111 public school districts statewide that delivered on a pledge made five years ago to improve the college and career readiness of its high school graduates by 2015.

    All of the state’s 169 P-12 superintendents and local board chairs signed the pledge – known as the Commonwealth Commitment to College and Career Readiness – in 2011. (In Kentucky, five public school districts do not have high schools). Each of the districts had a unique goal based on increasing its 2010 college and career readiness rate by 50 percent by 2015.

    Those named to the list were Benjamin Elijah Locke, sophomore, of Hodgenville; Cody Joseph Palacios, freshman, of Hodgenville; Lucas Ryan Pepper, senior, of Hodgenville; Adam Justin Sandidge, sophomore, of Hodgenville; Austin Tyler Stillwell, junior, of Hodgenville and Isaiah Thomas Turner, sophomore of Magnolia.

    The following Western Kentucky University students from LaRue County graduated December 2015.

    Michael R. Huff, of Buffalo, Bachelor of Science; Olivia B. Lafollette, of Buffalo, Bachelor of Science; Sarah B. Astor of Hodgenville, Bachelor of Science and Nathaniel W. Nash, of Hodgenville, Bachelor of Music.

    The career launch event has been rescheduled for Friday, March 11. LaRue County Schools will be closed that day due to the career launch.
