  • Webpage offers LCS tax rates, funding needs information

     

    LaRue County Schools recently announced that community members can access new information about district tax rates and funding needs online.

    The LaRue County Board of Education is expected to vote on the 2016 proposed tax rates after a public hearing set for 7 p.m. on August 24 in the LaRue County High School library.

    • KHIC Wee Time 

    Preschool children ages 2-4 and their parents are invited to Wee Time, where preschool children can become familiar with the school they will attend. The event is August 24 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hodgenville Elementary School. The color for the event is brown. For more information contact Melissa Pearman at 270-358-3506 or Machelle Durham at 270-358-4112. 

  • 4-H Teen Club starts August 26

    The LaRue County 4-H Teen Club will start back with their first meeting of the new school year at 7 p.m. this Friday, August 26 at the LaRue County Extension Office.  

    The club is open to LaRue County youth in grades 7 through 12.  It is also open to youth who may have graduated from high school, but are still 4-H age eligible (up to age 18).  The 4-H age for the 2016-2017 4-H year is the child’s age on January 1, 2017.

  • New Classified personnel at LCS

    Several classified personnel have joined LaRue County Schools this year with many of them filling the important job of instructional assistant.

    The assistant helps a certified teacher in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment. The IA also prepares instructional materials and performs a variety of routine clerical duties as assigned.

  • LCS explores Digital Learning Initiative funding

    With the 2016-17 school year underway, LaRue County Schools again are equipping every high school and middle school student with a laptop computer, but the Digital Learning Initiative’s long-term future is uncertain.

    The school district’s overall financial needs have prevented saving for replacement computers, and now funding for new computers may not be in place when student laptops begin wearing out.

    At first, the initiative provided 800 laptops to LaRue County High School students and 55 laptops for teachers.

  • LCS school bus update

    LaRue County Schools’ buses are equipped with many items intended to prevent children from being injured or left behind while passengers.

    Phil Fulkerson, LaRue County School District’s director of transportation and maintenance, listed some of the safety equipment on buses.
