  • School calendar - February 1, 2017

    LaRue County Schools make up days

    School will be in session as snow make up days on March 10 and May 5.

    KHIC Wee Time

    Preschool children ages 2-4 and their parents are invited to Wee Time, where preschool children can become familiar with the school they will attend. The event is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on February 8 at Hodgenville Elementary School. The color for the event is white.   • Four LCHS band members compete in clinic

    Four LaRue County High School band members attended the 2017 WKU Honors Band Clinic last weekend.

    The LCHS band members auditioned for chair placement among three 100-piece bands made up of juniors and seniors from Kentucky, Tennesee and Indiana. They also performed in a combined concert last Saturday in VanMeter Auditorium at WKU.

  • NOLIN RECC sponsors free trip to Washington DC

    Local high school juniors whose parents or guardians are members receiving electric service from Nolin Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation are eligible to enter a contest that may take them to Washington, D.C. The yearly competition also includes a trip to Frankfort for all participating students.

  • Input sought for educational needs of community

    LaRue Countians have the opportunity to give feedback for educational opportunities offered to the public.

    LaRue County Community Education is seeking input from the public on potential classes they could offer to the community.

    “The Library, Health Department and Extension Office do an outstanding job offering educational opportunities to the community; we’re just trying to find any gaps that we could fill,” Director of LaRue County Community Education, Connie Goff said.

    County Homemaker Scholarship

    $400 scholarship available to LaRue County residents graduating from high school this year who plan to earn a degree in family and consumer sciences, agriculture or a related field.   • LCMS, LCHS band perform well in district audition

    The LaRue County Middle School and High School bands competed for spots in the region’s All-District band last weekend with 15 schools.

  • ALES honored with ENERGY STAR certification

    The LaRue County Board honored Abraham Lincoln Elementary School for its recent ENERGY STAR certification at the January 17 board meeting.

    The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) prestigious ENERGY STAR is the national symbol for protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. This signifies that the building performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency.
