  • State's first hybrid school bus will travel North Lyons route

When LaRue County students return to classes Thursday, some of them will be transported by the state’s first hybrid electric school bus.

Bus 133 was purchased with a grant from the first round of federal stimulus dollars helping public schools become more eco-friendly. LaRue is one of 22 districts awarded a share of $13 million in stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the Department of Energy.

  • LaRue schools gearing up for an exciting new year

LaRue County Schools welcome new students and staff to another exciting school year. As students return tomorrow, the schools have important reminders and information to share:

  • LaRue adopts new policy for missing and tardy students

Schools want their students to attend all classes and be on time for several reasons.

Obviously, a student who is not in class will miss the instruction. But school districts also receive funding based on average daily attendance, and the more students who are on time and attend all classes, the more money the schools will receive to help those students achieve.

  • Personnel changes

The LaRue County School Board heard the following personnel recommendations Monday:

    Employment of:

    • Bob Bright as principal at LaRue County Middle School effective June 21.

    • Heather Ratliff as language arts teacher at LaRue County High School effective July 1.

    • Vicky Wright and Andrea Gribbons as language arts teachers at LCMS effective July 1.

    • Eric Marcum as instructional assistant at LCHS and Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.

  • Infinite Campus helps parents stay on top of students' progress

Parents with Internet access no longer have to wonder about how their children in LaRue County Schools are doing on tests or homework.

They can access that information directly through an Internet program called Infinite Campus.

The only requirement is that parents must have access to the Internet and they must have signed up at one of the district schools.
