• Cottrell, Ferguson honored

    Two students were recently awarded the J.R. and Carrie Lee Edwards Scholarship by Central Kentucky Community Foundation.

    Carley Danielle Ferguson, New Haven, is entering her senior year at Western Kentucky University where she is studying early childhood education.

    Ashley Reed Cottrell is a 2013 graduate of LaRue County High School and has enrolled at WKU where she plans to pursue a degree in agriculture education.

  • Flaget to host wellness fair

    Flaget Memorial Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, will host a free health and wellness fair 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 28 at 4305 New Shepherdsville Road in Bardstown.

  • SCHOLAR: Gray receives $1,000 Nolin scholarship

    Nolin RECC awarded $7,000 in scholarship funds to local students in June.

    The cooperative provides electricity to about 33,500 members in Hardin, LaRue and seven surrounding counties. These scholarship opportunities are just one way Nolin helps promote education and growth in the community.

  • Library adds children’s programs to fall lineup

    The LaRue County Public Library will have several new childrens’ programs starting next week.

    Monday –Story Time, a preschool story hour with reading, crafts, songs and games, is at 10 a.m. Bookalisious is at 3 p.m. It’s a middle school age book club for girls. Books will be read aloud and discussed.

    Tuesday – The Anime Club, where anime fans can meet to discuss new graphic novels or movies, meets at 3 p.m.

  • ACT data to be released in September

    Individual school ACT data for the junior class who took the assessment in March 2013 is scheduled to be released the end of next month.  

    As school staff, parents, and students study the results, it’s important to remember that good scores on the ACT and other assessments, though desired, are not the ultimate goal.

    ALES site-based council

    The ALES site-based decision-making council will meet at 5:35 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in the school’s conference room.

  • MAC grant program to benefit local teachers

    For the 11th consecutive year, Hodgenville-area middle school teachers will have the opportunity to “Make Activities Count” in the classroom through McDonald’s MAC Grant program, which rewards teachers for innovation and creativity in the classroom by providing funding for hands-on classroom activities.

  • SCHOLAR: Lincoln Museum Scholarship
