    Tuesday June 6

    Lunch and a Book:  Come Build a Better You is at 11 a.m. Stories to help build self acceptance and of course lunch for Preschool and Kindergarten age children.  The crafts is an adorable toilet paper giraffe marionette.

    Dinner and a Book for school age children is at 5:30 p.m.  The same theme and craft as the early group.Tuesday June 13

    The LaRue County School Board meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at the LCHS Media Center.


    The Hodgenville Elementary School site-based decision- making council meets at 4 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in the conference room. For more information, call the school, 270-358-3506.

  • Getting a second chance

    The GED recipients who attend Adult Education Commencement exercises at LaRue County High School’s auditorium at 6 p.m. June 19 have their individual reasons for summoning the motivation, determination, and persistence necessary to attain their General Education Development certificates.

    For 26-year-old Monique Lewis, the reason was the realization that to enter the nursing or teaching field, her top career choices, she would need that certificate.

    The LaRue County School Board meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at the LCHS Media Center.

    Welcome Reception for Denise Skaggs

    The LCHS SBDM Council is hosting a reception to recognize the hiring of principal Denise Skaggs on Thursday, May 25.  All community members are welcome to stop by the LCHS Library and Media Center any time between 6 and 8 p.m. to welcome Mrs. Skaggs and enjoy light refreshments.


  • Bell retires, LCHS scholarship recipients

    Elizabeth Bell will retire July 1 after having served 10 years as a bus monitor for the LaRue County School System.

    “I believed in helping the students out with whatever they needed,” said the Hodgenville resident and LCHS alumna. “I enjoyed the feeling of helping the kids.”

    Before becoming a bus monitor, she was a member of the district’s first strategic planning team made up of members of the community and of the school system who met in 1990 to form a mission statement and visionary planning for the schools.

  • School board prepares for summer

    The LaRue County School Board was doing business as usual during their monthly meeting on May 15 as they approved several items that come before them during this time of the year.

  • LCHS speech students excel at tournament

    The LaRue County High School Speech team sent two students to compete at the Individual Events Tournament of Champions at the University of Kentucky on April 30.

    Students have to earn spots to compete at this prestigious tournament each year and this year juniors Parker Anderson and Elena Cecil were both invited to compete in Oratory.
