  • School Calendar - February 3, 2016

    KHIC Wee Time

    Preschool children ages 2-4 and their parents are invited to Wee Time, where preschool children can become familiar with the school they will attend. The event is February 8 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the LaRue County Board of Education. The color for the event is pink.   • Academic Team advances

    The LaRue County High School Academic Team had a great performance in this past Saturday’s district Governor’s Cup competition on Saturday, January 30.  LCHS competed against Bardstown High School, Thomas Nelson High School, Nelson County High School and Bethlehem High School.

    Members of the LaRue County High School Quick Recall team competed in the Hardin County Educational and Community Television (HCEC-TV) Scholastic Challenge during the month of January.  The Scholastic Challenge is a single elimination tournament held each year where local high schools compete in a quiz bowl type match.  

  • School board analyzes SEEK funding

    Members of the LaRue County Board of Education see educational funding as one of the biggest challenges facing today’s school boards in Kentucky. Their sentiments echo what some studies are showing.

    According to A Preview of the 2016-2018 Kentucky State Budget prepared by the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy, Kentucky’s schools are continuing to deal with fewer resources due to the budget cuts of recent years.

    Claudia Silva as Instructional Assistant for English Language Learners for the LCS.

    Ashley Valentine as FMD Instructional Assistant at LCHS.

    Nicole Boone as ESS Instructional Assistant (part-time) at ALES.

    Resignation

    Norma Jo Mather as Substitute Food Service Assistant for LCS.

    Maggie Mather as Assistant Speech Coach for LCHS.

  • January is School Board Member Recognition Month

    As a sports team is at its best when all members work together to achieve their goals, a board of education is most efficient when its members are united as they face the many challenges and concerns that arise at each meeting.

    “A good board of education can make all the difference for school districts,” noted Sam Sanders, LaRue County Schools’ superintendent. “It starts and ends with the board. They hire and evaluate the superintendent. They also set policy and procedure for the district.”
