  • LCHS Drama and Chorus Team up for a Musical

    The LCHS Drama and Music programs are teaming up to present The Sound of Music by Rogers and Hammerstein. The show will help to raise money for both the LCHS Speech and Choral programs and will run shows on Friday, December 11; Saturday, December 12 and a dinner and matinee on Sunday, December 13. Show times on Friday and Saturday are at 7, and the dinner on Sunday will be served at 12:30 with the show starting at 1:30.

The event is November 16 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the LaRue County Board of Education. The color for the event is orange.   • Grant brings new opportunities to LCMS

    Thanks to a $2,000 Dart Foundation grant, LaRue County Middle School seventh-grade students will learn more about how body systems work by dissecting frogs.

    “Students will be identifying the different body parts and systems of the frog,” explained Deana Paden, a seven-year veteran science and reading teacher who wrote the grant. “In our Life Science unit we study body systems.  The frog dissection allows our students to see these body systems and compare them to their understanding of how the human body systems work.”

  • LaRue County School retiree luncheon

    School retirees from Abraham Lincoln Elementary and the former Buffalo and Magnolia campuses will gather for a noon luncheon on Saturday, November 14 at Decades restaurant in Magnolia.

    All retirees who once worked at the campuses are invited to attend. Retirees may also bring guests, yearbooks, and stories to share with the group.

  • Middle school students learn about Holocaust

    Students in Mrs. Carla Preston’s reading class are reading The Devil’s Arithmetic, by Jane Yolen. The Devil’s Arithmetic is a novel that focuses on telling the story of a family during the Holocaust. Yolen uses Jewish traditions and how a family comes together to remember the terrible struggles of the Holocaust to tell the story.

  • Program to honor veterans

    LaRue County Schools are honoring America’s military veterans November 11 with programs in the high school gym for middle school and high school students and guests.

    “We will have veteran and student speakers,” said Marsha Duncan, coordinator of LaRue County Youth Service Center that is sponsoring the program.

    “Students will be encouraged to invite family and friends to attend who have served in the military. We will recognize our veteran guests during the ceremonies at each program,” she continued.
