  • Hellman named to Dean’s List

    Rebekah A. Hellman of Hodgenville has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Georgetown College.
    She is the daughter of Roie and Karen Hellman, of Hodgenville.
    The Dean’s List honors undergraduate students who completed the semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 3.7 GPA.

  • Project Graduate recruits adult learners

    Adults interested in returning to college and completing a bachelor’s degree are getting an extra boost through Project Graduate, a statewide program designed to recruit and graduate former students with 90 or more credit hours. Through fall 2010, a total of 492 former students had completed a bachelor’s degree with the help of high-touch services and incentives offered through the program.
    Project Graduate is a collaborative effort between the Council on Postsecondary Education and the state’s public universities.

  • Helvey named to Dean’s List

    Marites Helvey was named to the Dean’s List at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College for the spring semester.
    She is working on an associate degree in accounting.
    She and her husband, Joe Helvey, live in Hodgenville.

  • School offers summer reading program, new program

    LaRue County Schools’ students can continue their reading pleasure and skills in July thanks to a summer reading program sponsored by Hodgenville and Abraham Lincoln elementary schools’ family resource centers.
    “Statistics show that students who do not read during the summer, their reading level goes down,” said Melissa Pearman, Hodgenville FRC coordinator.  “This is a great opportunity for them to read some good books and see their friends, too.”

  • Western Kentucky University Dean’s List

    Several local students were named to the Dean’s and President’s List for the spring semester at Western Kentucky University.
    Students making the Dean’s List have a grade-point average of 3.4 to 3.79 in a 4.0 scale. Students on the President’s List have GPAs of 3.8 to 4.0 and are indicated by an asterisk (*). To be eligible for the either list, students must have at least 12 hours of coursework that semester.
    Students who list their information as “confidential” in TopNet (WKU’s website) are not listed.
