  • Memorial Dinner set for Dec. 4

    Thanks to the generosity of LaRue Countians, the Kelly Dean Sanders Memorial Fund, since its inception in the late 1960s, has provided clothes and other assistance to thousands of LaRue County students who have needed help.
    The major moneymaker to keep the fund active is the Kelly Dean Sanders Memorial Dinner which this year will be held at the newly remodeled LaRue County High School cafeteria Dec. 4 from noon until 2 p.m.

  • LCHS continues winning season

    Over the past two weekends, the LaRue County High School speech team has competed in three tournaments and brought home several awards for both individual and team, including four championships.
    On Nov. 5, the team competed in the Calloway County Invitational; and on Nov. 12, the team traveled to Western Kentucky University to compete in the Alumni Swing, which is two tournaments in one day.

  • WKU honors local students

    Western Kentucky University honored 47 students from six area high schools for their academic achievements.

    The annual High School Scholars recognition ceremony honored students who qualify for a renewable scholarship to WKU.

    This year’s group has an average ACT composite score of 28.7 and grade-point average of 3.9 and included four National Merit Semifinalists and 25 Kentucky Governor’s Scholars.

    Though LaRue County High School Marching Band of Hawks’ state championship Class AA performance took only eight minutes, its preparation was a year in the making.
    “We started thinking about it last November, but began thinking about the actual theme and design around February,” said Jaime Smith, band director.
