  • ECTC offers ACT prep

    Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will offer ACT prep courses beginning in August.
    Individual classes are structured to give attention to each of the four subject areas – English, math, reading and science – or students may choose to take the ACT overview, offering custom-designed tutoring and practical advice on all four subjects.

  • ECTC registration for fall semester begins Aug. 9

    Students can register Aug. 9, 10 and 11 for fall semester classes, which begin Aug. 15 at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. Registration schedule is alphabetic according to last name. Students can register for the full semester or the bi-terms, which run Aug. 15–Oct. 14 and Oct. 17–Dec. 10.
    Financial aid is still available. Students should submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid as soon as possible, if they have not already done so.

  • ECTC hosts parent orientation

    Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will host a forum 7 p.m. July 28 for parents and guardians of students attending the college this fall.  The forum will last about one hour.
    This will be an evening of information, storytelling and tips for parents who want to learn more about the college experience  their child is about to enter in the fall. Parents and guardians of currently or previously enrolled students are also welcome.

  • Mullins elected KASA vice president

    A local educator has taken on a state leadership role.
    Paul Mullins, principal of LaRue County High School, has been elected as vice president of the Kentucky Association for School Administrators. This enters him into the cycle of leadership that will eventually have him serve as president-elect and then president.

  • Connor Logue earns Trustee's Scholarship

    Connor Michael Logue, a graduate of Louisville Male High School, will attend the University of Louisville this fall.
    He received the Trustee’s Scholarship and was chosen to be in the University’s honor program.
    Connor is the son of Tom and Valarie Logue and the grandson of Bradley and Maxine French of Hodgenville, and Eldred Taylor and the late Buford Logue of Louisville.

  • Superintendent's evaluation addressed by school board

    Superintendent Sam Sanders scored between “good” and excellent” on his annual evaluation.
    The LaRue County School Board voted Monday to accept the superintendent’s evaluation which is based on 10 performance standards requiring board member feedback. Scores are: zero – unacceptable; 1 – needs improvement; 2 – good; 3 – excellent; and 4 – outstanding.

  • Back-to-school at HES

    Hodgenville Elementary School will have its back-to-school bash Aug. 2. Students can drop off school supplies and meet their teacher and new principal, Sue Osborne.
    Students with last names beginning with A through M may attend 5-6 p.m. Students with last names beginning with N through Z may attend 6-7 p.m.
    If students are unable to attend during their specified time, they can stop by any time between 5 and 7 p.m.
    Refreshments will be served.

  • Changes made to dismissal times

    LaRue County students return to classes Aug. 4 while opening day for teachers is Aug. 2.
    Start times are 7:45 a.m. for elementary school and 8 a.m. for middle and high schools.
    There will be a change in afternoon dismissal times. Buses will load at the LaRue County Middle School and High School campuses first at 3-3:07 p.m. Buses will travel to elementary schools for loading 3:10-3:15 p.m.
    Schools will continue to dismiss early on Fridays – 1:30 p.m. for the middle and high schools and about 1:35 p.m. for the elementary schools.
