    The students at Hodgenville Elementary School colored butterflies in honor of Ashley Long, who passed away earlier this month due to leukemia. Many wrote comforting notes on the butterflies.

  • Hybrid buses praised

    Since LaRue County Schools began participating in the Hybrid Horsepower for Kentucky Schools program in 2010, the district has saved 7,285 gallons of fuel, making it a top-five district among participating schools.
    “It’s not every day you have the opportunity to participate in a program that makes a great deal of sense for the environment and saves the district money in the long run,” said Sam Sanders, LaRue’s superintendent of schools. “That’s what this program has done.”

  • Schools receive Workplace Award

    LaRue County School District has recently been recognized as one of the 2013 Top Workplaces among similarly sized companies, organizations, and educational institutions in Kentucky. There were 36 school systems in this division.
    The 2013 Top Workplaces distinction is earned through employee survey results distributed by Workplace Dynamics that asked employees to rate their company, organization, or educational institution and their bosses by responding to a series of statements.

  • Reding named to Dean's List at Benedictine College

    James Reding of Howardstown has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.

    Reding, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Reding, earned a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.9 to earn a spot on the Dean’s List.
