Heather Davis of Magnolia was named to the President’s List at Mid-Continent University in the ADVANTAGE program.

To achieve the President’s List, students must maintain a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale term.

ADVANTAGE is an accelerated degree completion program. Adults 24 and above with about two years of college can earn the last half of their bachelor’s degrees by attending class one night per week for 18 months of instruction. Upon completion, students earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Management or Christian Ministry.

In two undergraduate ceremonies Saturday and the graduate ceremony Friday night, Western Kentucky University conferred degrees and certificates to a spring commencement record 2,393 students.

College of Health and Human Services recognized Whitney R. Brooks, an exercise science major from Buffalo and the daughter of Bobby and Kathy Brooks, for having the highest GPA in its division.

Those graduating LaRue County High School seniors who attend Project Graduation this year will feel as though they’re strolling down Bourbon Street in the Big Easy as this year’s theme is “Mardis Gras.”

“We’re going to have the hallway walls of the middle school decorated just like Bourbon Street with pictures of buildings and even the street corner musicians,” said Becky Thompson, who, with Linda Gozzard is co-chairing the event scheduled for May 28.

LaRue County High School Site-Based parent member nominations will be accepted through May 21. Eligible parents are those who will have children enrolled in grades 9-12 for the 2010-11 school year. To nominate yourself or another parent, contact LCHS at 358-2210.
