    School will be closed January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

    LCS YSC Advisory Council

    The LCS Youth Service Center Advisory Council will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 12 at the LaRue County Extension Office.  The meeting is open to the public.

  • Parkway Peeps to sponsor Prom Extravaganza

    With prom goers already shopping for just the right dress for that special night on April 29, Parkway Baptist’s Relay for Life team decided to get in on the action with a different type of fundraiser.

    Parkway, in its second year as a Relay team, is sponsoring a Prom Extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 at the church which is located at 325 Old Sonora Road in Hodgenville.

    4-H Canoe and Kayak Club

    The 4-H Canoe and Kayak Club will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17 at the LaRue County Extension Office.

    4-H Arts and Crafts Explores Club

    The 4-H Arts and Crafts Explorers Club will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18 at the LaRue County Extension Office.

  • 4-H Selling pizza kits

    4-H members now have the opportunity to sell Little Caesars Pizza Kits to help raise money for 4-H.

    The sale is going on now through January 20.  Order forms are available from the Extension Office and purchases can also be made online.  Money must be collected at the time of the order.  Checks should be made payable to LaRue County 4-H.  Kits range in price from $16 to $24.  Pizza kits are available as well as crazy bread kits and even cookie dough.

    Senior Citizens music

    The LaRue County Senior Citizens Center in Hodgenville has music beginning at 6:30 p.m. every Saturday. Musicians and singers are welcome. For more information call Charles 270-358-4311 or email Viola Riggs at viola47@windstream.net.

    Friends of the Library

    The LaRue County Friends of the Library meet at the library at 5 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.

    Library Story Time

    The LaRue County Public Library will have story time twice a month on the first and third Friday of each month in 2017 at 1 p.m. For more information call Crystal at the library at 270-358-3851.

  • Three LaRue County residents receive degrees from Lindsey Wilson College

    Three LaRue County residents recently graduated from Lindsey Wilson College.

    The 3 area residents were among 407 students who received undergraduate or graduate degrees at the college’s 104th commencement ceremony, held December 10 in Biggers Sports Center.

  • Ragland named to Dean’s list

    John G. Ragland of Hodgenville and two hundred fifty-four other students have been named to the Union University Dean’s List for the fall 2016 semester.

    Founded in 1823 and affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, Union University is located in Jackson, Tennessee and is characterized by quality Christ-centered teaching and learning. Union offers liberal arts training in more than 100 majors and programs of study along with professional programs in business, education and nursing.

  • LCS preparing for inclement weather

    Weather in this area of the state is so localized that low clouds may be laying down a layer of ice on roads in one end of the county while only a cold rain covers the roadways in another section only a few miles away.

    That variance makes the decision of calling off school even more difficult for LaRue County Schools Superintendent Sam Sanders.

    KHIC Wee Time

    Preschool children ages 2-4 and their parents are invited to Wee Time, where preschool children can become familiar with the school they will attend. The event is January 11, 2017 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Hodgenville Elementary School. The color for the event is purple.
