For Traci Peters, new director of Kids Crew, the opportunity to have children in the daycare there is a golden one for the youngsters to learn facets of education upon which they can build.

“We promote child-directed, hands-on activities for our students,” the Pennsylvania native said.

The 38 children enrolled at Kids Crew, located at the LaRue County Board of Education office in Hodgenville, take part in daily lessons that teach skills appropriate to their age level.

A junior at one of Kentucky’s public or private high schools may win a $500 scholarship and a photo shoot at his or her school through the “Promote Your School” scholarship contest, sponsored by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority.

The LaRue County School Board heard the following personnel recommendations Sept. 20:

Accepted resignation of:

•Ketura Parr as instructional assistant at the Alternative Education Center

•Due to retirement, of Rhonda Joey Wood as cook/baker at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School

•Sara Smith as cook/baker at LaRue County High School

Accepted recommendation of employment of:

•Ketura Parr as ISS monitor at LaRue County Middle School

•Traci Peters as child care director at Kids Crew

Twenty-four LaRue County elementary students joined more than 150 others in song Saturday as they participated in the Fourth District Treble Chorus at Parkway Baptist Church in Bardstown.

The fourth, fifth and sixth-grade students from 11 area school districts climaxed weeks of practice as they performed five songs – “The Silence and the Song,” “Gloria,” “Enter with Singing,” “A Song to End All War” and “With a Banjo on My Knee.”
