    Stay After and Read is 2:45-4 p.m. Aug. 31 with open library 4-6 p.m.

    Blood Drive

    The ALES blood drive is 3-7 p.m. Aug. 31 in the gym.

  • LaRue adopts new policy for missing and tardy students

    Schools want their students to attend all classes and be on time for several reasons. 

    Obviously, a student who is not in class will miss the instruction. But school districts also receive funding based on average daily attendance, and the more students who are on time and attend all classes, the more money the schools will receive to help those students achieve.

    The LaRue County School Board heard the following personnel recommendations Monday:

    Employment of:

    • Bob Bright as principal at LaRue County Middle School effective June 21.

    • Heather Ratliff as language arts teacher at LaRue County High School effective July 1.

    • Vicky Wright and Andrea Gribbons as language arts teachers at LCMS effective July 1.

    • Eric Marcum as instructional assistant at LCHS and Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.

  • Infinite Campus helps parents stay on top of students' progress

    Parents with Internet access no longer have to wonder about how their children in LaRue County Schools are doing on tests or homework.

    They can access that information directly through an Internet program called Infinite Campus.

    The only requirement is that parents must have access to the Internet and they must have signed up at one of the district schools.

    Registration

    Registration for all LCHS students is 8 a.m.-5 p.m. July 22 at the LCHS media center. Be prepared to pay textbook fees of $60 and laptop fees of $20. Laptop fees may be paid up through fall break.

    LCHS SBDM Meeting

    LCHS will have a special called SBDM meeting 4:30 p.m. July 28 in the conference room. Meeting dates for the remainder of the year will be set.

  • Camp Invention puts creativity, teamwork to the test

    Classrooms at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School buzzed with activity last week as students in grades one through six developed problem solving and teamwork skills while having hands-on fun. 

    The 61 students put their creativity – individual and collective – to work on activities that complemented the academic principles they were learning.
