  • ACT data to be released in September

    Individual school ACT data for the junior class who took the assessment in March 2013 is scheduled to be released the end of next month.  

    As school staff, parents, and students study the results, it’s important to remember that good scores on the ACT and other assessments, though desired, are not the ultimate goal.

    For the 11th consecutive year, Hodgenville-area middle school teachers will have the opportunity to “Make Activities Count” in the classroom through McDonald’s MAC Grant program, which rewards teachers for innovation and creativity in the classroom by providing funding for hands-on classroom activities.

  • LCHS offers new ACT prep program for students

    LaRue County High School is offering, without cost to students, an online ACT tutoring program that principal Kyle Goodlett believes will help all who use it both while they’re in high school and when they apply for college.

    The ACT is a component of Kentucky’s accountability system. The scores students make on it are used as criteria for scholarships and college admission.

  • School board sets tax rate

    For the seventh year in a row, the LaRue County School Board voted Monday to adopt the compensating rate or less for property taxes.

    The compensating rate, when applied to current year’s property assessment, produces an amount of revenue equal to that produced in the preceding year.

    The board could have levied as much as 4 percent more than the amount of revenue produced by the compensating rate. The 4 percent levy could be added after a hearing but is not subject to recall.
