    KHIC Wee Time

    Preschool children ages 2-4 and their parents are invited to Wee Time, where preschool children can become familiar with the school they will attend. The event is February 1 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the LaRue County Board of Education. The color for the event is black.   • Personnel changes at LaRue County Schools - January 27, 2016

    The LaRue County Board of Education reviewed several personnel changes at their January meeting.

    Employment

    Claudia Silva as Instructional Assistant for English Language Learners for the LCS.

    Ashley Valentine as FMD Instructional Assistant at LCHS.

    Nicole Boone as ESS Instructional Assistant (part-time) at ALES.

    Resignation

    Norma Jo Mather as Substitute Food Service Assistant for LCS.

    Maggie Mather as Assistant Speech Coach for LCHS.

  • LaRue County Schools step up security

    LaRue County Schools have taken steps to increase security by adding more cameras, including some high tech ones.

    “We added 65 cameras to the elementaries, the middle school, and the high school as well as the board of education,” said Rip Collins, district director of pupil personnel. “With the 65 we are adding, we now have 164 total cameras.”

    The cameras added to the two elementary schools and the middle school replace a system that has been in those schools for a number of years, according to Collins.

  • Scholarships Open to LaRue County Students through Scholarship Central

    Central Kentucky Community Foundation (CKCF) is accepting scholarship applications now through March 1 for four different scholarships available to LaRue Countians.

    Applying for these scholarships is made easy through Scholarship Central, an online scholarship portal located at www.ckcf4people.org. Scholarship Central is user-friendly and allows students to apply for multiple scholarships with just one application, based on eligibility.

    ALES Advisory Council meeting

  • New 4-H communications contests added with poetry contest

     The 4-H Poetry Contest will be held again this year, but there are new additions to the 4-H Communications Contest. It now includes six categories, instead of just poetry. The new categories are: Songwriting, Poetry, Essay on “What 4-H Means to Me”, Original Monologue, Press Release and Public Service Announcement. Students may enter one item per category.

    The contest is open to all LaRue County youth ages 9 to 18.

  • 4-H Calendar

     Shooting Sports Club

    The 4-H Shooting Sports Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on January 21 at the Extension Office.  Club volunteers will discuss and demonstrate shooting sports safety.  Youth with an interest in the club are encouraged to attend.

  • School Board approved contract for energy savings

    The LaRue County School Board decided on a provider for guaranteed energy savings during a special called meeting on Thursday, January 7.

    The board approved Hershaw Trane of Louisville at the meeting. The board originally received two requests for proposals from Ameresco and Harshaw Trane.
