      Misdemeanor plea entered

    Lenin Wieman Jr. (1962) entered a guilty plea Jan. 17 in LaRue Circuit Court to an amended charge of trafficking in marijuana (misdemeanor), possession of marijuana and buy or possession of drug paraphernalia. He was fined $210 and was sentenced to 12 months, suspended and probated.

  • Nelson County man pleads guilty to marijuana sale

     A Nelson County man pleaded guilty in United States District Court last week to a single count indictment charging him with possession and intent to distribute marijuana, according to David J. Hale, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.

  • Man charged with attempted murder

     A Buffalo man was charged early Saturday with attempted murder after he allegedly fired a gun at a woman.

     Guilty plea

    John Milburn Coyle (1986) pleaded guilty Jan. 17 in LaRue Circuit Court to complicity, manufacturing methamphetamine; complicity of drug paraphernalia buy or possession; and complicity, possession of controlled substance. Recommended sentence is five years, 12 months, and 12 months respectively, for a total of five years, probated. Presentencing investigation ordered. Final sentencing was Feb. 17.

  • KSP searches for Nelson mother, children
  • Hodgenville man charged with third-degree rape

     A 35-year-old man is facing a third-degree rape charge for allegedly having relations with a 15-year-old girl.

    Joseph Matthew Skaggs of Hodgenville was charged Feb. 5 after a deputy spoke to the girl and her family.

    He was lodged in the LaRue County Detention Center under $5,000 cash bond. He will be arraigned Feb. 12 in LaRue District Court.

  • Green County fire investigated

     Detective Alex Wesley is investigating an arson fire that occurred 7.5 miles north of Greensburg at 1801 Gumm Springs Road.

    About 4 a.m., Detective Wesley arrived on scene to find multiple structures and vehicles on fire. The arson investigation is ongoing.

    He was assisted at the scene by the Green County Sheriff’s Department, Summersville Fire Department, Green County Fire Department, Buffalo Fire Department and the State Fire Marshalls Office.

  • KSP searching for alleged car thief

     Kentucky State Police in Bowling Green are asking for the public's help to find a man suspected of stealing cars.

    According to a news release from the KSP post in Bowling Green, police are looking for 33-year-old Thomas Upton from Glasgow. Upton is described as a white male with blue eyes and brown hair, 6'1", and weighs about 190 pounds.

    KSP officials say Upton is a suspect in as many as eight auto thefts throughout Barren, Hart, LaRue and Warren Counties. He is believed to be armed and extremely dangerous. 

  • Final sentencing held in voyeurism case

    Final sentencing was held Jan. 9 for an Adair County man accused of videotaping a young girl at his LaRue County home in 2011.
    James Orley Absher, 50, will serve five years after pleading guilty to six counts of promoting a minor in a sexual performance; and six counts of voyeurism.
    According to court records, Absher moved to Elizabethtown from Hodgenville in December 2011.
    Kentucky State Police began an investigation after a juvenile found a camera hidden in a tissue box on the bathroom sink in Absher’s home.

  • Man charged with theft after taking money meant for sick child

    A former LaRue County man was charged Monday in Bullitt County with taking money intended for a sick child.
    Kyle T. Nunn, 30, of Louisville, is accused of pocketing $9,000 from a restaurant and a foundation set up to assist with Addilyn Roberts’ medical bills. The formal charge is theft by deception.
    According to an arrest warrant, Nunn contacted the manager of Baxter’s 942 Bar & Grill, requesting $6,000 to organize a concert with country singer Jason Aldean. The proceeds would go toward the 3-year-old’s medical care.
