A Hart County man, who has eluded police for almost a year, was apprehended Sunday at a residence on Upton Talley Road.
Spurgeon Napper III, 39, was sitting in a SUV beside Magnolia Elementary School last May and drove away when an officer questioned him. He led officers on a high-speed chase through the Wonderland section, eventually fleeing on foot when his vehicle bogged down in a muddy area.

The Boy Lincoln Statue, not yet 3-years-old, and the century-old seated Lincoln statue were damaged early Sunday when an alleged drunken driver tore through Hodgenville’s Lincoln Square traffic island.
Boy Lincoln, a depiction of Abraham Lincoln at age 7 standing with his dog Honey, was dedicated to the city in May 2008 as part of the Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration. The small bronze sculpture was knocked from its base by a 2001 Ford Taurus driven by Jeremy Scott Veatch, 23, of Austin.

Police say a Barren County man drove a Ford Taurus through the center of Hodgenville’s Lincoln Square early Sunday, striking both statues of Abraham Lincoln.

The Boy Lincoln Statue, dedicated in May 2008 as part of the Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration, was knocked from its base and dragged as the car entered the traffic island from U.S. 31-E (East Main Street). The base was dented and the statue, which depicted Lincoln as a child standing with his dog Honey, was severely scratched and scraped.

A reported knife fight last June led officers to a meth lab in Mount Sherman. Four people were eventually charged in the incident, pleading guilty to various counts.
Jason Lee Kitzero, 32, formerly of Bonnieville, will spend five years in prison after pleading guilty to facilitation, manufacturing methamphetamine; three counts of complicity, possession of controlled substance (meth) and complicity, use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
