Local narcotics investigators are continuing their search for two men indicted in November just three weeks after the court ordered their release from jail.

Ellis Beeler, 56, and Ronald E. Brown, 50, both of Hodgenville, and Kenneth W. Priddy, 50, of Sonora originally were arrested Aug. 22 on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine.

 Police believe they have captured two of three men who hit Nelson County as part of a cross-country burglary spree.

The men are suspected of breaking into three Nelson County businesses on Feb. 25. They were arrested in Garrard County the same day on a string of burglary charges.

Boston Food Mart, Culver’s Kwik Market and the Marathon in New Haven were burglarized during the early morning hours, all within about an hour. At the time, sheriff’s deputies believed they narrowly missed capturing the burglars.

 A three-day trial resulted in a settlement for a Hodgenville man who claims he was bitten by his neighbor’s dogs.

Joseph C. Johnson, 82, said he was attacked by two black dogs on Jan. 7, 2011, as he crossed North L&N Turnpike on his way to a mailbox.

He suffered bites to his legs and buttocks, requiring stitches and several treatments at area hospitals, according to court records.

The dogs had taken him to the ground when a family member came to his rescue by firing a gun in the air.

 A rash of burglaries Feb. 25 resulted in physical damage to the stores, but not much theft — causing storeowners and employees to wonder what the thieves were after.

The burglars broke glass doors of Boston Food Mart, Culver’s Kwik Market and the Marathon in New Haven.

This isn’t the first time the Marathon has been burglarized, manager Jackie Wimpsett said. There were two other incidents involving stolen cigarette cartons on Dec. 16 and Nov. 11.
