  • Warren to serve 7.5 years for incest

    A LaRue County man has pleaded guilty to two counts of incest. Numerous other counts were dropped as part of a plea agreement made in Nelson Circuit Court earlier this month.
    If the judge signs the plea deal, Charlie Monroe Warren, 55, will serve 7 1/2 years in prison and be required to register as a sex offender. He must also complete a sex offender treatment program. The commonwealth’s attorney opposes probation.

  • Man charged with manufacturing methamphetamine

    Willis A. Richardson, 39, was charged Aug. 11 after officers found marijuana and methamphetamine labs in his home.

    Social services had requested police assistance on a welfare check on children at a residence on Cruse Road, according to Kentucky State Trooper Ryan Johnson. Upon arrival, Johnson obtained permission to search the residence and found a marijuana plant and evidence of several meth labs.

    A 12-year-old was removed from the home and placed with family members. A pregnant woman residing at the residence was not charged.

  • Sonora women charged with trafficking

    A Sonora woman who received a probated sentence for drug manufacturing and welfare fraud in June has now been charged with trafficking.
    Angel Irene Montgomery, 35, is accused of selling 1/2 gram of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in July in the parking lot of a Magnolia store, according to court documents. She faces an additional charge of possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine).

  • Plea agreement accepted in human trafficking case

    A local court case that drew statewide attention is drawing to a close.
    James Merritt Curtsinger, 64, the Hodgenville man who was charged with promotion of human trafficking, pleaded guilty to lesser charges Aug. 1 in LaRue Circuit Court. His trial-by-jury was scheduled for Aug. 8.
    In December, Kentucky State Trooper Bruce Reeves said it is the first human trafficking case opened by state police working from the Elizabethtown post.

  • Former Pamida manager to serve one year

    A former retail store manager was sentenced to one year in jail after being found guilty of theft by unlawful taking.
    Bill Woodrow Willis, 30, of Radcliff was accused of making illegal transactions on cash registers without items being purchased at Pamida in Hodgenville. According to court records, Willis falsely entered transactions into the store’s computer, claiming they were returns and taking the cash for himself.

  • Former teacher pleads guilty to unlawful transaction with minor

    Jeremy Todd Blair, a former LaRue County High School teacher and coach, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

    Blair, 33, was charged with the Class A misdemeanor after being “told to stay away” from a 16-year-old girl, a LCHS student, by her parents earlier this year, according to Deputy Eric Williamson.

  • Burglary suspect apprehended in Hodgenville

    Hodgenville City Police apprehended early Tuesday a man suspected of breaking in Sammy’s Market in Sonora.
    According to Police Chief Steve Johnson, Jacob Ritchie, 18, address unknown, allegedly broke in the market between 3 and 4 a.m. Ritchie began walking on Ky. 84 and was picked up by a motorist.
    “According to the story we got, when he was in the vehicle, he told them he broke in and tried to get money out of the ATM,” Johnson said.

  • Man charged with 21 counts of unlawful transaction with minor

    A Hodgenville man was charged last week with 21 counts of third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.
    Matthew Melton, 26, allegedly hosted a party where alcohol was served to minors, according to Deputy Eric Williamson.
    Twenty-one people under age 18 were either drinking or intoxicated at the party, Williamson wrote in a criminal summons.
    Williamson, Constable Tim Ford, and Kentucky State Police responded to the Tanner Road residence after receiving a report of loud music, according to the summons.
    Melton will appear July 27 in LaRue District Court.
