  • Several local people indicted in Hart County

    A Hart County grand jury indicted several people in October.

    They include:

    Sarah M. Sallee, 25, of Magnolia was indicted on one count of first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) and complicity; possession of marijuana and complicity; and possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity.

    Michelle L. Lineske, 33, of Sonora, was indicted on one count of first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) and complicity; possession of marijuana and complicity; and possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity.

  • NEW HAVEN: Firefighters discover indoor grow

    Firefighters discovered an operation of possibly more than 100 marijuana plants when they responded to a fire at a double-wide mobile home on Nat Rogers Road Wednesday morning.

    The Rolling Fork Fire Department was dispatched to 1299 Nat Rogers Road shortly before 8:30 a.m., calling the Bardstown-Nelson County Fire Department for mutual aid. When the fire department arrived, they discovered part of the home's living room smoldering, but the fire was extinguished and damage was minimal, according to Frank Hall, Rolling Fork fire chief.

  • Fourteen indicted by grand jury

    Fourteen people were indicted Oct. 17 by a LaRue County grand jury. Arraignment for each is Nov. 7 in LaRue Circuit Court.
    Property offenses
    Justin L. Borders (1988) of Hodgenville was indicted on one count of third-degree burglary; theft by unlawful taking; first-degree criminal mischief and complicity. He is accused of entering a horse barn and taking a refrigerator and horse medication valued at more than $500 about July 29.

  • Barren man pleads guilty to crashing into Lincoln statue

    A Barren County man pleaded guilty in LaRue Circuit Court earlier this month to one count of criminal mischief and driving while under the influence of alcohol. He’s expected to receive a diverted sentence.
    Police say Jeremy Scott Veatch, 24, was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus on U.S. 31-E just after 4 a.m. on April 10. The car entered the traffic island on Lincoln Square and struck the “Lincoln as a Boy” statue.

  • New Haven murder trial delayed a second time

    The trial for David Jerome Willett, suspected in the stabbing death of Eric Douglas Stallard in New Haven last December, has been delayed a second time.

    Willett, 27, New Hope, stands accused of stabbing 39-year-old Stallard, New Haven, in an apartment at 107 Locust St. in New Haven the evening of Dec. 2, 2010. At the time, police reported that an argument about who Stallard was dating escalated into violence. Stallard was reportedly killed with a 7-inch lockblade.

  • Liberty man may serve 7 years on numerous counts

    A Liberty man who led police officers on a high speed chase through Taylor and LaRue Counties in March pleaded guilty to several counts in LaRue Circuit Court.

    Diversion extended
    Stephanie Brown (1981) agreed to extend her diversion Sept. 19 in LaRue Circuit Court until restitution is paid. She was charged with failure to report change in order to receive benefits. The case will be reviewed Feb. 6.

  • Grand jury indicts 17

    Seventeen people were indicted Sept. 19 by a LaRue grand jury. All were arraigned Oct. 3 in LaRue Circuit Court.
    Drug-related offenses
    Matthew A. Dickerson (1973) of Cissal Hill Road, Hodgenville was indicted on one count of manufacturing methamphetamine and complicity; first-degree trafficking in controlled substances and complicity; first-degree possession of a controlled substance and complicity; and six counts of possession of firearm while committing an offense.

  • Court of Appeals affirms decision for Koetter Woodworking

    The Kentucky Court of Appeals concurred with a judgment set down by LaRue Circuit Court in a Sept. 23 decision.

    The case Donahue vs. Koetter Woodworking, Inc., was filed in 2010.

    Koetter Woodworking filed a complaint to quiet its land title against abutting property owners, Joseph L. Donahue and Dianne E. Donahue, Kenneth R. Simpson and Bonnie Simpson, Williams Marks III, Thomas Watson Fenwick and Robert Lee Simpson and Carole J. Simpson.

    Koetter alleged the appellants were wrongfully claiming ownership of about 20 acres near the shared boundary.

  • Couple charged with sexual abuse of child

    A Hodgenville couple is facing charges of sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl.
    According to arrest citations, Anthony Wayne Fitts, 35, was charged Oct. 4 with first-degree sexual abuse and unlawful transaction with a minor for allegedly touching a juvenile in an inappropriate manner.
    His wife, Sharon Ann Fitts, 34, is charged with complicity, first-degree sexual abuse; complicity, unlawful transaction with a minor; and endangering the welfare of a minor. The arrest citation claims she was aware of the alleged abuse.
