A Hodgenville man was charged with first-degree robbery Friday evening after he allegedly robbed a store clerk at knifepoint. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Bradley Hovious, then walked outside the store where a Hodgenville City officer was waiting with handcuffs.
About 10 p.m., a firefighter was purchasing gas from IGA Express on Lincoln Boulevard, according to Chief Steve Johnson. The firefighter, who preferred to remain anonymous, noticed a “suspicious-looking person hanging around the parking lot” and notified dispatch.

Guilty plea
Angel Montgomery (1975) entered a guilty plea to an amended count of complicity, first-degree trafficking in controlled substance, less than four grams with a recommended sentence of two years to run consecutively with all other cases. All other charges dismissed. Final sentencing is Nov. 21.

Complicity
An Elizabethtown man who was seriously injured in a one-step meth lab explosion more than a year ago has pleaded guilty to amended charges Oct. 28 in LaRue Circuit Court.

A man convicted of manslaughter in the 2007 shooting death of his former stepdaughter has requested another court hearing.

David McFarland, 47, of Magnolia, claims he was a victim of domestic abuse and should be exempt from the requirement that he serve 85 percent of his 18-year sentence, according to court records.

If his request is granted by LaRue Circuit Court, he could be eligible to serve only 20 percent of his sentence.

The following people were sentenced recently in Nelson Circuit Court. All had previously entered a plea of guilty or had been found guilty during a criminal trial. Unless otherwise stated, all jail sentences are served concurrently.
