  • Convicted child molestor: 'Justice failed me'

     A former New Haven man, who pleaded guilty last year to repeatedly sexually assaulting his juvenile stepdaughter, says he was failed by the judicial system and nearly died at the hands of incompetent jailhouse medics. 

  • Criminal mischief or protection of property?

     A Hodgenville man was charged with several counts Nov. 29 after an altercation with a Texas truck driver who turned around in his driveway.

  • Partial video obtained of attempted abduction

     Bardstown Police have obtained a partial surveillance video of a white van suspected in two attempted abductions last weekend.

    “It’s a rough, grainy video,” said Capt. Tom Roby. But it does show a van in the lot and shows it leaving.”

    With the video, we’re almost sure it’s a Ford, but we can’t call it yet,” said Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin.  “We’re almost certain it’s a Ford van.”

  • New Haven man indicted for cultivation of marijuana

     Matthew Eric Rogers, 25, New Haven, was charged with cultivating marijuana five plants or more, possession of a firearm while committing an offense, trafficking in marijuana, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Bail was set at $5,000 cash or property, plus conditions. He was arraigned Jan. 17 in Nelson Circuit Court Jan. 17.

    The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

  • Sonora bank robbed

    The Cecilian Bank branch in Sonora was robbed at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

    An unidentified white male entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding cash, according to Kentucky State Police. The teller complied, and the suspect left the bank on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. He was not located in the area.

  • Upton man charged with assault

     Kentucky State Police arrested an Upton man Jan. 7 in connection to an October assault at a Cecilia Smith Mill Road residence.

    Jacob M. Walker, 22, is charged with second-degree assault. He also is accused of violating felony probation.

    According to a warrant, the victim went to the residence to speak to Walker. However, police said before a discussion occurred, Walker and two juveniles assaulted the man.

     A Hodgenville man faces several charges after a routine traffic stop.

  • Six indicted by grand jury

     Six people were indicted Jan. 7 by a LaRue County grand jury.

    Sara B. Gibbons(1975) of Hodgenville was charged with six counts of unauthorized procurement of controlled substance; theft by unlawful taking; six counts of forgery in the second degree; five counts of theft by unlawful taking; and second-degree persistent felony offender.
