  • Court Briefs - Dec. 28, 2011

     Serve 90 days 

    Jennifer L. Ahmer (1984) was sentenced to five years, probated Dec. 5 in LaRue Circuit Court. She is ordered to serve 90 days and credited for 31 days served. She was fined $385. She was found guilty of second-degree trafficking in controlled substance; complicity of first-degree possession of controlled substance, unspecified; tampering with physical evidence; complicity of possession of marijuana; and complicity, controlled substance, prescription not in original container.

  • Two sentenced in railroad track thefts

    Neither Robert Brandon Wheeler, 27, nor Misty M. Taylor, 37, both of Louisville, were granted probation in Nelson Circuit Court Dec. 9.

    Both were sentenced to two years in prison for complicity to first-degree criminal mischief and two years in prison for complicity to first-degree wanton endangerment, with the sentences to be served concurrently for a total of two years.

  • Eight indicted by grand jury in December

     Eight people were indicted Dec. 19 by a LaRue County grand jury.

    They include:

    Bradley Scott Hovious(1981) of Hodgenville was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree persistent felony offender.

    He is accused of entering IGA Express Nov. 18 and threatening to use physical force while armed with a knife in order to take money from a store clerk.

    Bail was set at $50,000 cash. Hodgenville City Police investigated.

  • Hodgenville man charged in McCracken drug bust

     The McCracken County Sheriff's Department Drug Division wrapped up a month long investigation into a large marijuana trafficking ring on Wednesday. It resulted in the arrests of five people from the Taylorsville, Louisville and Hodgenville area.

    For about a month, detectives had been investigating a group they believed were intending to purchase a large quantity of marijuana.

    During that time, they came to Paducah to discuss the amount of marijuana they wished to purchase, the method of transportation, and the amount of money.

  • Woman leads police on chase on I-65

    An out-of-state woman in a stolen rental vehicle led police in a pursuit Wednesday morning on Interstate 65 that began near the LaRue-Hart County border and ended in Clark County, Ind.

    Carolyn S. Jones, 26, of Killeen, Texas, was driving a white 2010 Chevrolet G3 van when she sped past an unmarked Kentucky State Police unit at 8:57 a.m. near the 75-mile marker on I-65, according to a KSP news release. The van that Jones was operating had been reported stolen by Hertz Rental Cars.

     A Liberty man who led police officers on a high speed chase through Taylor and LaRue Counties in March was sentenced to seven years earlier this month in LaRue Circuit Court.

  • Police Log - Dec. 14, 2011

    Possession of controlled substance
    Bruce T. Bloyd (1964) was charged with possession of controlled substance, second offense (cocaine); possession of marijuana; and three counts of buy or possession of drug paraphernalia Dec. 2 by Kentucky State Police. He was lodged in the LaRue County Detention Center under $9,500 cash bond. A preliminary hearing will be Dec. 14 in LaRue District Court.
