  • Woman leads police on chase on I-65

    An out-of-state woman in a stolen rental vehicle led police in a pursuit Wednesday morning on Interstate 65 that began near the LaRue-Hart County border and ended in Clark County, Ind.

    Carolyn S. Jones, 26, of Killeen, Texas, was driving a white 2010 Chevrolet G3 van when she sped past an unmarked Kentucky State Police unit at 8:57 a.m. near the 75-mile marker on I-65, according to a KSP news release. The van that Jones was operating had been reported stolen by Hertz Rental Cars.

  • Police Log - Dec. 14, 2011

    Possession of controlled substance
    Bruce T. Bloyd (1964) was charged with possession of controlled substance, second offense (cocaine); possession of marijuana; and three counts of buy or possession of drug paraphernalia Dec. 2 by Kentucky State Police. He was lodged in the LaRue County Detention Center under $9,500 cash bond. A preliminary hearing will be Dec. 14 in LaRue District Court.

  • Another civil suit against jail settled

    A federal lawsuit filed against the LaRue County Detention Center, individual county employees and employees of Southern Health Partners has been settled before trial. The action was dismissed without prejudice meaning there is a possibility the plaintiff may file another suit within 45 days “if the settlement is not consummated.” Joseph H. McKinley Jr., Chief Judge, signed the order.

  • Court briefs - Dec. 14, 2011

    Sentenced to five years

    Adam Christopher Patterson (1974) was sentenced to five years Nov. 21 in LaRue Circuit Court after being found guilty of third-degree burglary, convicted felon in possession of a handgun and theft by unlawful taking. He was fined $385; probation was denied.

    Joshua J. Whalin failed to appear Nov. 7 in LaRue Circuit Court. His name was listed with National Crime Information Center.
     
    Final sentence
    Elmer C. Thompson Jr. (1965) was found guilty of flagrant non support Nov. 7 in LaRue Circuit Court. He was sentenced to five years, conditionally discharged and unsupervised probation; and credited for 32 days served. He was fined $385.

    Woman charged with criminal possession of forged instrument
    Brandy N. Meredith (1982) of Hodgenville was charged with 23 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, second degree by the LaRue County Sheriff’s Office. She was lodged in the LaRue County Detention Center under $25,000 bond. She was arraigned Nov. 30 in LaRue District Court. A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 14 to determine if enough evidence exists for the case to be heard by a grand jury.

  • HCP: Suspect bites officer during arrest

    “You never know what you’re walking into when you’re called to a domestic.”
    Constable Tim Ford summed up a recent experience where he was dispatched to a home to investigate a possible domestic disturbance. The couple in question allegedly joined forces when he attempted to arrest the husband.
    Ford responded to the 911 call on Miller Road outside Hodgenville about 6:15 p.m. Nov. 30. According to the report, Farron Edward Sidebottom, 37, of Cruse Road, allegedly shoved his wife, Rebecca Mae Sidebottom, 38.
