  • Two indicted for burglary, forgery

     Two people were indicted on forgery and burglary charges March 18 by a LaRue County grand jury.

    Derek M. Shelton (1981) of Glendale was charged with forgery in the second degree and theft by unlawful taking. He is accused of falsely making or altering a check on the account of a family member with the intent to defraud; and taking cash, at least $500 but less than $10,000, on Dec. 2 or 3.

    Bond was set at $5,000 cash only upon condition of no contact with the alleged victim’s property.

  • Murder trial set for October

     The trial for Abdullah Rahman White and Samantha JoDale Kolley, the couple implicated in the December 30, 2011, death of Kristie Lynne Allen, will take place Oct. 22 – almost two years after the alleged crime was committed.

  • Absher indicted on more counts

     James Orley Absher (1962) of Columbia and formerly of Hodgenville, was indicted March 18 by a LaRue County grand jury on five counts of promoting a minor in a sexual performance and five counts of voyeurism.

    Court records indicate the original indictment, filed in December, was amended, adding eight counts.

    The crimes are alleged to have occurred between Oct. 1, 2011 and November 2011 in LaRue County. 

    Absher, a former Adair County dispatcher, is accused of videotaping an underage girl at his LaRue County home.

  • Hodgenville men sought by police

    Local narcotics investigators are continuing their search for two men indicted in November just three weeks after the court ordered their release from jail.

    Ellis Beeler, 56, and Ronald E. Brown, 50, both of Hodgenville, and Kenneth W. Priddy, 50, of Sonora originally were arrested Aug. 22 on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine.

  • Former teacher pleads guilty to amended charge

    A former LaRue County High School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student won’t be spending time in jail after pleading guilty to a lesser charge Friday in Hardin Circuit Court.

    Natalie Gentry, originally charged with one count of sexual abuse after she was accused of having intercourse with a 17-year-old student at her home in June 2011, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of sexual misconduct, a misdemeanor punishable up to 12 months in jail.

  • Suspects in New Haven burglaries apprehended

     Police believe they have captured two of three men who hit Nelson County as part of a cross-country burglary spree.

    The men are suspected of breaking into three Nelson County businesses on Feb. 25. They were arrested in Garrard County the same day on a string of burglary charges.

    Boston Food Mart, Culver’s Kwik Market and the Marathon in New Haven were burglarized during the early morning hours, all within about an hour. At the time, sheriff’s deputies believed they narrowly missed capturing the burglars.
