  • Constable's charges dropped

    Criminal charges against a LaRue County constable were dismissed Friday in LaRue Circuit Court.
    Jeffrey W. Metcalf, 41, of Hodgenville, was charged last May with theft by deception and first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot after Kentucky State Police attempted to serve a warrant for cold checks at his residence.

  • Police investigate break-in at church

    Hodgenville City Police are investigating a break-in at the Hodgenville Christian Church business office and an attempted break-in at Shopko.
    Late Monday or early Tuesday, someone tried to make entrance in Shopko on West Main Street, said Police Chief Steve Johnson.
    Late Tuesday or early Wednesday, someone entered the church’s office – about one-half mile from Shopko – and took several items.
    “They took a little bit of everything,” said Johnson. “Including the plate out of the microwave.”

  • New Haven man arrested after police chase

     A high-speed chase through New Haven mid-afternoon Tuesday ended in a crash and foot chase.

    Nelson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Sean Vittitow, of Nelson County, on numerous traffic counts, driving under the influence and evading arrest after he fled from an attempted traffic stop.

    The chase ended in the side yard of a home on the corner of Main Street and Lyons Station Road.

    “He came down the road wide open,” said Bob Peterson, who witnessed the chase.

  • Magnolia woman charged with cruelty to animals

    Latessia M. Skaggs (1969) of Magnolia was charged April 2 with second-degree cruelty to animals by the LaRue County Sheriff’s office.
    According to a citation written by Deputy Eric Williamson, there were several animals on Skaggs’ property without adequate food.
    Williamson said there was a horse “on a short rope” with no food or water; more than 80 chickens “with less than a quarter of a sack of food”; and several dogs that had no food.
    Skaggs will be arraigned April 17 in LaRue District Court.

  • Shepherdsville man charged with trafficking

    A Shepherdsville man faces numerous counts after what began as a routine traffic stop on April 6.
    Darin J. Wright, 37, was driving a vehicle with one headlight and rear license not illuminated near the intersection of Lincoln Parkway and South Lincoln Boulevard, according to Hodgenville Officer Brandon Casey.
    When the officer signaled for him to stop, Wright allegedly presented a license belonging to another man.
