A former LaRue County firefighter was ordered to make restitution to the volunteer fire department after he pleaded guilty to taking a breathing apparatus from a fire scene.
According to an arrest warrant filed by Deputy Brian Smith on July 22, 2011, Larry Michael Morgan, 26, of Hodgenville, took a MSA M7 Firehawk self-contained breathing apparatus valued at $4,500 from the scene of a LaRue County fire on Feb. 1, 2010.

A Hodgenville man was sentenced to 20 years after pleading guilty to a pair of robberies at a local convenience store.
Bradley Hovious, 31, pleaded guilty in March in LaRue Circuit Court to an amended count of second-degree robbery of IGA Express on Lincoln Boulevard in November 2011.
Hodgenville City Police said Hovious, wearing a blue bandana over his face, robbed a store clerk at knifepoint. He walked outside where he was promptly arrested by an officer who had been tipped off to the suspect’s suspicious activity.

The LaRue County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a pair of suspicious phone calls to local residents asking for them to wire funds out of state.
The “grandparents scam” targets the elderly, according to Chief Deputy Russell McCoy.
 “What they’re doing is calling and acting like one of their grandchildren has gotten in trouble and needing money,” said McCoy.

   While family and friends last week attended the funeral for Richard “Lanny” Skees, his home on Nolin Road in Sonora was burglarized of thousands of dollars worth of items ranging from pocket watches to firearms.

“I felt like my husband had died all over again,’’ Normaline Skees said. “I felt very violated that someone had been in our house.’’
