     A Hodgenville man charged with attempted murder and sexual abuse of a child was held two days last week at the LaRue County Detention Center under $500,000 cash bond. He was later transferred to Kentucky State Reformatory.

  • Man receives suspended sentence after pleading guilty to wanton endangerment

     A Hodgenville man received a suspended sentence June 4 in LaRue Circuit Court after pleading guilty to one count of wanton endangerment.

    Robert G. Skaggs Jr., 24, was charged last October with seven counts of wanton endangerment after discharging a weapon in a restaurant.

  • New Haven man to serve 180 days

     A New Haven man is serving 180 days in the Marion County Detention Center in Lebanon after being convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting a victim between 2002 and 2007.  

    Bobby Lee Hudson, 67, formerly of Washington County, pleaded guilty last December in circuit-court-conducted mediation to two counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12. He had faced as many as 20 years in prison, but accepted a much more modest sentence May 23, after his young victim urged leniency in the case, according to the victim's mother.

    Declared a fugitive
    Jimmy Dale Keene was declared a fugitive May 7 in LaRue Circuit Court. He is charged with theft by unlawful taking.

    Diverted sentence
    Brandy N. Meredith (1982) received a diverted sentence May 7 in LaRue Circuit Court after pleading guilty to 23 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument. She was ordered to pay at least $50 per month on financial conditions. The case will be reviewed Oct. 15.

  • Woman charged with taking meds from nursing home

    A New Haven woman was charged May 29 with possession of controlled substance and theft by unlawful taking.
    According to court records, Mary Vanessa Obryan, 57, had rented a house in Hodgenville. When she vacated, she allegedly took a butcher block valued at $850 and landscaping valued at $322.57 from the residence. She also is accused of refusing to return the house key which cost the property owner $140 to gain entrance.
    The court records also state that medications prescribed to other persons were found inside the house after she moved.

  • Man charged with attempted murder, sexual abuse of child

    A Hodgenville man was charged early Sunday with attempted murder, kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse (victim under age 12), first-degree attempted rape and resisting arrest.
    According to Kentucky State Police Post 4 spokesman Norman Chaffins, Jetto Dye, 28, took a sleeping child from his residence in the 1800 block of River Road into a wooded area behind the house. Her parents had been visiting at Dye’s home and left briefly while the 10-year-old girl was asleep.

  • Man charged after alleged assault of child

    A Hodgenville man was charged early Sunday with attempted murder, kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse (victim under age 12), first-degree attempted rape and resisting arrest.

    According to Kentucky State Police, Jetto Dye, 28, took a sleeping child from his residence on River Road into a wooded area behind the house. He allegedly sexually assaulted the 10-year-old girl and attempted to choke her to stop her from screaming.
