 The Marion County grand jury handed down two indictments for murder Monday.

Dewayne Shipp, 49, of 83 Webster Way in McDaniels was indicted for murder and for possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

According to the indictment, on or about Nov. 14, Shipp intentionally engaged in conduct that caused the death of Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Rakes.

No bond was set in this case.

Shipp is being held at the infirmary at the Kentucky State Reformatory.

 A Buffalo woman was charged Oct. 5 with third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor and third-degree sodomy.

Haley Glass, 22, is accused of having unlawful contact with a 15-year-old boy in July. The LaRue County Sheriff’s Office served the arrest warrant.

She was lodged in the LaRue County Detention Center on $9,500 unsecured bond.

She was arraigned Oct. 31 in LaRue District Court. Probable cause was found for the case to be heard by a grand jury.

She is ordered to have no contact with the complaining witness.

 Chief Circuit Court Judge Charles C. Simms III and Circuit Court Judge John David “Jack” Seay, who serve Hart, LaRue and Nelson Counties), participated in the 2012 Kentucky Circuit Judges College Oct. 29-31 in Lexington. The Administrative Office of the Courts provided the judicial education program for the state’s Circuit Court judges. The event included 19.25 hours of continuing education credit for the judges.
