Former jail deputy charged in 2002 inmate's escape

Former LaRue County chief deputy jailer Travis Jay Strader has been indicted by a Hart County grand jury for allegedly assisting an inmate – Billy J. Rucker – who escaped custody in 2002. He was charged with second-degree escape, complicity, according to the Hart County Sheriff’s office.

Hart County Sheriff Boston Hensley and Deputy Lanny Jewell served Billy J. Rucker, 48, of Munfordville, with an arrest indictment in April. Rucker is charged with second-degree escape and being a persistent felony offender.
